We are a part of Penguin Random House, a global trade publisher. We are home to some of the greatest writers of our times, including Amitav Ghosh, Arundhati Roy, Sudha Murty, Ruskin Bond, Khushwant Singh, Former President of India Late APJ Abdul Kalam, Upmanyu Chatterjee, Satyajit Ray, to name a few.

Many have gone on to win virtually every major literary prize, including the Nobel Prize, the Booker Prize, the Magsaysay Award, and the Jnanpith Award. Our authors have also been recipients of the Bharat Ratna and the Padma Vibhushan, India’s highest civilian honours.

Penguin was established in India in 1985 and began printing in 1987 with only six books. Random House launched its publishing programme in 2005 and began its distribution operations in 2009.

Penguin Random House India is a result of a merger in 2013 when these two publishing houses came together to become one of the most successful English trade publishers in the Indian sub-continent and grew to be one of the most recognized names in the industry.

Since our inception, it has been our commitment to uphold and add to the rich literary legacy of our country. We publish in English and Hindi for adults and children across genres – literary fiction, romance, thrillers, fantasy, memoirs, biography, self-help, mind, body and spirit, historical non-fiction, politics, creative non-fiction, health and wellness, children’s literature, young adult fiction and non-fiction, just to name a few.
